Made in ProKick - World Champions
Smith began in his usual focused fashion, and with the young Japanese fighter Tsuda concentrating on kicking Johnny began to counter with sharp and accurate boxing. Into the second round and Smith stood his ground and dominated, his tight combinations began exposing the technical Japanese southpaw and with what is becoming his trademark he dropped Tsuda with a stinging right cross. With that Tsuda was unable to continue and the words every ProKick fan was waiting to hear “…and still World Champion” Johnny ‘Swift’ Smith’s arm was raised in victory. The Holiday Inn erupted in celebration for ProKick’s own homegrown son’s latest triumph. The future is bright for this World Champion who symbolises what can and is Made in ProKick.
The crowd had certainly been readied for Smith’s fight with an electrifying battle between ProKick’s WKN European Champion Cathy McAleer and Dani Hodges (Burntwood, England). Deemed as a warm up for the main event, this prestige match was a thrilling four rounds of intensity from two resilient fighters. Karate Kid McAleer was relentless in her pursuit of opponent Hodges and landed some excellent shots that would have stopped many others, but not Hodges. The 29 year old from England, fought with great heart but ProKick’s McAleer’s speed, fitness and precision shone through and as the crowd chanted her name, Cathy McAleer took the unanimous victory as she marches on her way to a well deserved World Title shot.

Hi
Wow, what a terrific ending to the Made in Pro Kick show, Cathy and Johnny topped the Fight Card and both of them put on displays of high class kick boxing which will remain long in the memory of all of us fortunate to witness it.
Cathy nearly brought the house down with a display of kickboxing that was breath taking in its’ skill and intensity against a great opponent in Danni Hodges from England. Hodges is a Triple European Taekondo Champion . So, the WKN World Title Eliminator fight was between Pro Kicks current European champion and a Taekondo Triple European Champion, No pressure then, The crowd was on it’s feet roaring Cathy home from the first round and the noise was deafening, Cathy has a great fan base and they certainly make themselves heard, it was a fantastic fight and Cathy was the clear winner, many Congrats to Danni Hodges for putting on such a great display.
Johnny topped the bill against Yuhei Tsuda of the Rise Japan, a young fighter only 21 years old, so he had to be an exceptional talent. Johnny caught him in the first round and hurt him, he was beating him to the punch and fighting well, in Round 2 Johhny caught him in the Red corner and a peach of a right put Yuhei to sleep, game over, an awesome performance from Johnny and a great finale to Made in Prokick, the crowd were on their feet, clapping and roaring their approval as Johnny rightfully soaked up the moment and acknowledged the crowd with a salute followed by a few leaps in the ring. Cracker Ending.
Everyone from Team Pro Kick put on great displays to the best of their ability , I’m sure Mr. Murray will take great satisfaction from todays show, well done everyone, especially our Junior fighters , Cameron, Killian and Jake, awesome lads, future of Team Pro Kick is looking bright.
So, if you missed it, you really missed a great days Kick Boxing , I overheard visiting coaches talking and they were highly impressed , one of them said to me,” those 2 girls what an incredible fight, both them, hell of a fighters”
Thanks to all the visiting fighters, coaches, refs, judges and WKN officials without whom we wouldn’t of had a show, safe journey home. Truth, discipline, respect. Regards.
