A packed out Holiday Inn saw 12 action filled fights at the Holiday Inn as the Norwegians swept in hoping to leave with a string of victories under their belt. However not this time it was not to be as the Celts took centre stage with a whopping 11 wins, 8 of those against the Norwegians who managed to go home with one victory.
There were too many star performances to single out as fight of the night but four top runners were Ursula Agnew who fought two different opponents with a win on both displays, young David Bird who came back from a losing streak to take a first round KO against Dylan Morran who he lost to last June at the Bash n Mash, Johnny Smith who fought a very tough fight with a slugger from Norway with true Viking spirit and last but by no means least young Stephen Houston who after one year after his first fight a loss, came back to the drawing board a completely different fighter in every way beating Waterford's Adam Walsh.
Young Andrew McCreary who trained hard for his bout was unfortunate as his fighter pulled out at short notice and although the ProKick team made every effort to find him a replacement it just wasn't possible.
David Foster was looking to continue his undefeated reign but narrowly lost on points against the stronger Norwegian Erling Christensen. He took it well and will be back in training ready for his next outing.
Michael O'Neill was in good form as he outboxed his Waterford opponent stopping Brian Sweeny in the second round.
Karl McBlain had a another successful win by the short route after knocking his opponent down three times in the first round, Andreas Rathke felt the heavy blows from McBlain. The hard hitting McBlain is now two wins by KO.
Michael Swann had an unexpected rematch against Waterfords Sean Barrett again the two came to undecided decision as the judges couldn't split the pair. If a third bout is on the cards hopefully this will be the decider.
Greig Anderson had a nonstop action K1 rule fight, a change of discipline for the Scotsman as his previous two bouts were full contact. He managed to pip Norwegian Tobias Hagen in the last round by being more active and got the nod from the judges.
Mark Bird had a last minute change of opponent and took to the ring against Mads Osen of Norway, the pair fought a tough five rounds K1 style. The Norwegian was on the canvas twice in the first round and looked as if he wasn't going to go the distance but in true Viking spirit he pulled Thors hammer from the heavens and fought back like a true champion putting the talent Bird under pressure a few times. Bird the more experienced however weathered the storm and used his experience and skill to outwit and counter most of the rage from Osen.
James Gillen had a long wait as he was the last man of the night and was up against tough contender Rodrigue Nzyobuki. The Norwegian man who fought with a smile on his face throughout made light of Gillen's heavy blows yet unfazed the Belfast Giant with his own heavy shots.
A rematch between these two is already muted as the Norwegian team thought that a draw was the wrong decision. Some ringsiders thought James was lucky to get the draw however others thought that he deserved to win.
The ProKick kids made an entry to the ring as they wowed the crowd with some technical excellence, showing some of the adults how it should be done. Good to see the kids back in the ring.
The event was beamed LIVE in the internet and web stats show 1200 unique visitors alone on the LIVE page tuned into watch he fight over a period of 3 hours.
Many thanks again to Trevor Ambrose and his team, to the Holiday Inn and a big shout to our MC for the evening Mr Brendan Thompson, all the judges, referee, ambulance, doctor and helpers. And not forgetting you the fight fans.
