Three years on and still winning the Killinchy destroyer still makes headlines, as this time he’s been given an opportunity to fight for a Thai style title bout under K1 rules on a Next Generation event which is mainly designed as a platform for the novice and beginners to obtain their first fights – just like the one in the Falls three years ago only he is 12 fights on and just lost two against stiff opposition abroad, Barrie is hungrier than ever.

Barrie’s British title opponent is confirmed he faces tough Scott, Micky Shields. Shields is no stranger to these shores - who lost against Mark Bird in a see-saw battle which could have went to the Scott if Shields up’d his game earlier against Bird as he clearly hurt the young Ulsterman at the Waterfront Hall last December at KickMAS.

This championship match is made at 69kg as both fighter will meet in the middle – Shields moving up from 65kg and Oliver coming down from 73kg which was his last fight in April.

Both boys have it all to play for - Oliver in his first title shot and Shields a current full-Contact Scottish and British title holder wants this title in a K1 style championship at the heavier weight class.
