BBB7 Special Guest Don Elbaum

Mr Elbaum has been promoting and running boxing events since he was just 18 years of age and has promoted over 1000 fight cards including some of boxing's most famous characters from past and present. He also promoted some of the final fights of Willie Pep and the infamous Sugar Ray Robinson, in addition to an early fight of world heavyweight title holder Nikolay Valuev.

Elbaum is known for staging events with somewhat unusual themes. One show featured a match between "winless" heavyweights and was billed as an attempt to crown the "Worst Heavyweight in the World." During his time as Sugar Ray Robinson's promoter, he located two very old and well-used boxing gloves and presented them to Robinson at a press conference. The gloves were those that Robinson had worn in his professional debut nearly twenty-five years earlier. Robinson became very emotional, and cradled the gloves in his arms, but when he attempted to put them on, it was discovered that Elbaum had given him two left gloves. Emphatic gestures such as this have earned him his name as one of the sport's all time greatest promoters.

Elbaum even went on to play himself in a movie that portrayed the life of Don King, the legendary promoter whom Elbaum introduced to the sport when he helped him promote an event in Cleveland in the early 1970's.
