ProKick’s David Bird thought that he would catch up on some shut eye after Saturday’s early morning boot camp.
The 14 year old had been up from 5am to take part in the 6am ‘early bird catches the worm’ training session along with 17 other fitness fanatics, all cramming in extra training before their debut bouts at the Holiday Inn hotel on August 16.
Whilst all the other wannabe’s set off back home, David Bird set up camp in the ring but was rudely awakened by the kids as their class kicked off a couple of hours later.
Little did David know that sponsors Silentnight group Ireland had provided a luxury kingsize Mirrorform Perfect Comfort bed as a raffle prize for the Next Generation event. ProKick member Aaron Anderson had organised the sponsored bed with Billy Murray on behalf of his employers Silentnight group Ireland. Aaron had arranged to call into the gym and snap up some photos with some of the events debutants.
Junior Kickboxer David woke up red faced when he realised the whole of the ProKick kids 10am class gathered in the kickboxing ring to wake the sleepy head.
“The bed was so comfy it knocked me out.” Said Bird “I only sat down for a minute but that was 2 hours ago. I promise I won’t be sleeping in the ring come August 16 but I will buy some ballots in the hope of getting to sleep in this after the fight.”
