Billy Murray Honoured In Sports Exhibition
Billy Murray honoured along with other Northern Irish sporting greats. Billy Murray was invited to be part of a sports exhibition hosted by Dame Mary Peters, June 21st, at The Ulster Museum - its objective is to capture triumphs from a wide range of sporting disciplines. The exhibition entitled "Golden Girl, Golden Moments" doubled up on 40 years from Mary Peters winning an Olympic gold medal by also selecting 40 local sports stars that excelled in their chosen sports.
Billy Murray was selected to be part of the 40 for one of his world championship achievements from a contest which was held in the Ulster Hall over 20 years ago.
Some of the sport–stars that Murray shares the exhibition with are George Best, Rory Mcilroy, Barry McGuigan, Hugh Ressell and Dame Mary Peters, to name but a few.
Murray had this to say after the launch: "This was a surprise, I only got the call on Tuesday of this week informing me that I was included to be part of Dame Mary Peters exhibition in the Ulster Museum. To say I'm honoured would be an understatement. My picture is on display along-side some of the biggest names from Northern Irish sport, and most of these people I class as sporting greats. I feel privileged to have been chosen by Dame Mary Peters to be part of this sports representation for Northern Ireland."
We would encourage all Prokick members to check out the exhibition which opens to the public from Friday 22nd of June.
