DAY 7 - FINAL DAY - Yes today was the last day of our 7 day specail Boot Camp and it was no different from other days. Well maybe a tat harder and faster. Today's concentration was one word, SPRINTS! As some were still arriving in the morning cold, those that turned up early were treated to a few extra light jogging laps just to get the legs warmed up. Everyone then set off for two non-stop faster paced laps, 30 seconds of hard shadow boxing in between each one. The fighters then broke off from the group as most stayed outside and did a bit more light jogging, but inside it was a different story as mat sprints and floor exercises were done at 100% pace for 2 rounds. Then it was time to re-join the group back outside for some more laps. To finish off the morning, everyone got a 2 min rest bite then had to set off for one lap as fast as their legs could carry them. Most of the group seemed pleased with their times, probably a testament as to how much boot camp has improved their overall fitness then a nice surprise came in the form of finishing a whole 5 minutes early. Out of the group of 22 that started the week long special, only 13 remained. Some of those 13 had informed Mr Murray of this in advance so they will not be included but well done to everyone who stuck out the gruelling 7 days. Keep an eye on the web for the next installment of Billy's Boot Camp coming your way soon!
DAY 6 - This was the penultimate day of Boot Camp for this 7 day special and it was a Major step-up in fitness drills. Yeah yeah I can imagine what you're saying, How could it be? Well it was that and much more.
First up there was 4x2 hard rounds in-your-face shadow boxing and for slackers it was laps and the rest bite, there was none it was sprint drill for 30 seconds.
Rest 1 Min
Next, 4x2 Floor exercises shadow boxing
and more!
Rest 1 min
Next, 4x2 mixture of sprints, Knee work, more gruelling pad work on the knee.
Finished off with non-stop sprint drills for 3 mins
Yeha day SIX done and dusted bring on the last day!
WELL DONE ALL - even you Chris not with a K - for joining us for this crazy day of Boot Camp!
Day 5 - This morning we had a special international guest in the form of Mr Nicolas Issenhart from Switzerland. Although he's actually French (or one of those others funny talking countries) he tells people from Switzerland. God help his class on Monday night as he picked up a few monster training tips for them at boot camp this morning! Started off this morning's training with four rounds of shadow boxing with 1 min rest bite in between and adding drills into the mix. Then wenton to the floor with a partner, doing a lot of sit ups and standing extensions. Changed exercises with a LOT of sprints right up and down the length of the gym, adding drills as we went along and then thebelts came out for the 'pulley' exercise. One partner pulling the other back with a belt as the boxed, kicked and knee striked their way up and down the length of the gym.
DAY 4 - WE're going to keep info for this day secret, we don't want to give too much away on our training techniques but we did much of a muchness and added an extra exercise of non-stop multiple knee strikes with the thai pads in the ring to really burst the lungs. Day included lots of core work, leg strengthening exercises and cardio.
DAY 3 - The day that normally ends the boot camp is just half way through (almost), this one being our week long special. First up our two Dynamic Duo European Title chasers were both late, £5 each fine guys. I'll add it to the rest of the bill. Should be £10 for Mr Smith, by putting a hood over his head and saying that he was in long before Karl but honest Karl owned up and admitted that Johnny was signing them both in while Mr Murray gave Karl a talking to. The disguise didn't work, Johnny. For Ursula, even though you gave £100 sponsorship for the guys belts (which I shall thank you for when I see you and well done) and Kyle, hand wraps should be put on before you start as you both were still getting ready whilst the class was in full flow so £5 fines each. Missing list today, Kris Hanna (who was there but didn't tick in) and Stefanie McMullen. Today started off with 3 hard rounds of shadow boxing, only 30 seconds break in between. Split the class, half did laps whilst mainly the competitors stayed inside for floor work then it was time to reverse roles. The guys went out for laps whilst the other squad came in for floor work. Finished off with 3 rounds of hard, in your face shadow boxing, changing from hands to knees to kicks and throwing in some floor exercises to keep the momentum high. If you're a boot camper you get an extra hour lie in tomorrow morning so 7am start, feel blessed!
DAY 2 - Started with a little bit of light stretching then 3 rounds of hard shadow boxing. Very hard shadow boxing in fact. Went from there on to floor exercises. Split off into two groups, some of the fighters and senior levels went into the ring whilst the other fitness fanatics stayed on the floor. Guys in the ring practiced non-stop knee and clinch work whilst the guys on the floor did 2's/4's/6's and fast hand work. Floor and circuit exercises were next, finishing off with a hard shadow box. Get ready for day 3!
DAY 1 - 18 turned up this morning, though there were 4 no shows. Please don't say you're coming in to boot camp and then not turn up. Just leave it for this week please. For those who informed us otherwise in advance then you may start tomorrow as arranged. Started off the first morning with the weigh-ins and some light shadow boxing, bringing the knee in occasion just for the warm up. Then went on to do one round of hard shadow boxing followed by another round of floor exercises, press-ups/sit-ups and star jumps etc. Split off into 2 groups, one group did 2's/4's/6's whilst the other group did some light boxing and knee work. More floor work, running around the olympic sized gymnasium alternating jogging, multiple knees and shadow boxing. Finished off the morning with a fast lap.
