Weeks 1,2 and 3 really helped kick off the new year for all the fitnes loving ProKickers in attendance and for anyone who missed it, Billy's Boot camp was back on for the last time (Friday 20th January) for a final special and it was as tough if not tougher than ever before, but well worth it!
We promise – by the end of a Boot Camp week you will feel invincible. You will wonder why others around you can be so gloom.
You are invited to join our students, up-and-coming fighters and veterans to hit the ground running – literally.
Top coach Billy Murray says: “There’s nothing quite like breaking sweat as dawn is breaking. You are one step ahead of everything and everyone for the rest of the day. By the end of the week, when you see the results, you will want more.”
The first week of Billy's Boot Camp started Monday 2nd Jan 2012 and only cost £10 for the week - The second week ran from Monday the 9th January and the third week is in it's fional stage tomorrow. For ProKick members it just costs £10 for the week!
NOTE: if you or joining us late then it is £20 for the rest of the week - if you're late £5 and if you miss a day £10 - this is a real Boot Camp so we'll do a little hitting, but on your pocket if you break the rules.

Week 3 Started Wednesday 18th January at 6am - Final Day Friday 20th.
Friday 20th Jan
That's it! Billy's Boot Camp is over bar the shouting - it's been nearly three weeks of non-stop running, jumping, punching, kicking and of course lots of sceaming. Today was a disapointing end to the third week by-way-of fighters attendances - only one fighter from 6 who will compete next week took adanvanage of the extra boost ahead on next week's planed event at the Hilton - That fighter was Mr Gary Fullerton...Well Done Mr F we solute you!
Enough about the negatives lets look at the positives - Close to 3 weeks of hard work, so now you're back into shape after Christmas, you've met new team mates, setting personal goals for yourself for 2012 - well done all if you wearn't late or didn't even miss a day....We hope to see you again at Boot Camp next time!
Wednesday 18th Jan
Well did you eat too much over the festive season? If the answer is yes - Billy’s Boot Camp is back for round 3 - it's a special and it'll be tougher than ever! Never mind the dark mornings, the chilling ice cold winds and rain. Your summer of life starts now. Read below about our Week 1 and week 2 and the comments below about how amazing everyone felt after it was over...But it's not over just yet!
Just a dozen ProKickers braved the cold to hit the ProKick Gym and the streets on Belfast before most are thinking about getting out of bed to start their day off. Nothing new, Shadow boxing, floor work, hand drills, more floor work, running, and circuit training - what a way to start your day. No more excuses guys, if you can't get up in time to attend Boot Camp please don't send a message. Over the years we've received hundreds of them from the sublime to the ridiculous.
WEEK 2 - STARTED MONDAY 9th JANUARY at 6am
To attend just add your name to the article below
WEEK 2 DAY 5:
Started off the morning with 3 rounds of shadow boxing. 2 Light and 1 hard and fast. Partnered off with the gloves on and did a few rounds on hard fast boxing and sprinting 1-2 punch combinations. Seperated off into two groups, one group circling the gym floor at half pace whilst doing floor touches and knees to chest and shadow boxing. The other group, working in pairs made their way across the length of the gym floor doing exercises with the extra pressure of being held back by their partner with a ProKick belt. The teams did 3 mins of this constant exercise then swapped over. Finished off the day with a few more rounds of shadow boxing and one last sprint to put the icing on the cake. Well done to everyone who made it through the tough week.
Keep your eye on the website for an update on the possible day on day off boot camp next week. This one is specifically designed for the fighters and will be a degree tougher than the rest. If you are interested in applying then forward your details. Please not that if anyone cannot complete 3-5 mile good paced run without stopping, please do not apply.
WEEK 2 - DAY 4:
The pinultimate day of week 2 and it was a full house today all present and corect - 26 fitness mad ProKickers got out of bed early to attend Billy's Boot Camp a no- no-nsence fitness Camp, kickboxing style. Most were wondering what was going on when they walked in the door as the gym looked like it was turned into a large kids adventure play ground.
There were no hard pads or grulling boxing drills today it was a 26 station set-up for a massive circuit and of course in good-old Kickboxing style. It was 45 minutes of hard fast exercise. Fatigue looked as if it was setting for most, as there were fewer wide eyed, bushy tailed energetic kickboxers this morning. At least not until the session was over then everyone seemed in great form!
Last day tomorrow!
WEEK 2 - DAY 3:
2 names missing from the list today. Mr Fullerton shall be fine hunting this evening from they who shall not be named! Started off the morning with 2 rounds of light shadow boxing and today was all about upper body strength. Af ew complaints from yesterday that legs, hips and backs were sore so concentrated on the shoulders to day with boxing, boxing and more boxing. More to come later this morning....watch this space
WEEK 2 - DAY 2:
Just three on the missing list, and yes there are a couple of cracking reasons why they didn't show... 24 campers braved the cold to attend one of the thoughest sessions this year. The squad starts with warm-ups, shadow boxing, floor work and then into pads finishing with hard and fast floor fitness drills.
WEEK 2 - DAY 1:
A good start to the week 23 boot campers with only 3 no-shows.
Today's session inside - weigh-ins, warm-ups, shadow boxing, boxing drills, kicking drills - finishing off with running by-way of laps of the gym. A pretty handy start to the week.
Read below about the first week of Boot Camp for 2012;
DAY 5: FINAL DAY
Final Day of Boot Camp and judgement day for most. Not including the 6 that didn't show up. One however, Lyndsay McMullan being the only one who informed ProKick commander in chief Mr Murray in advance. This time the group were not just battling the lack of fitness but battling the scales after the over indulgence of mince pies and and amber nectar consumed over the festive period that saw out 2011. The whole squad worked well and overall as a team lost a total of 50kg combined. One man in particular deserves a massive round of applause, Robert Buchanan. See why by clicking here. Boot camp has been up and down all week with members coming to and fro, possibly because the exercise has been intense right from day one with very little let up. Another shout out must go out ..to Mr David Jones. David hasn't missed a single boot camp in over 2 years and never been late a single day either.
On the other hand, and applying the saying 'better late than never' attending 3 days out of the 5 and turning up 20 mins late today and on top of this, weighing in a plus kilo for his week's work. Chris McCosker was read the riot act by Mr Murray this morning as his yo-yo style training isn't doing him or his team mates any good. Boot camp style training cannot be a 'turn up when you feel like it' atttitude, you really have to want to do it and Chris will be back in at 6pm tonight making up for lost time. Saying that, he had been doing brilliantly well towards the latter part of 2011 and we hope he returns to his dedicated ways and sticks to it for the rest of 2012.
The camp finished off a hard floor and bag session this morning with a shortened version of the dreaded 'piggy back run' but don't worry, the full version of it and some are coming back on Monday morning with a bang. Do you want to get fit for 2012 and more importantly STAY fit? Then sign up for Billy's Boot Camp Round 2 starting Monday 9th January by adding your name to the list below.
DAY 4:
The penultimate day of the first week of Boot Camp for 2012 – with most Campers saying it was the hardest this week to-date. With four on the missing list and without any notification fines are in order. Four sets of circcits from Bag work, runs, boxing, and leg work - roll on tomorrow the last day of the first week of Boot Camps in 2012.
DAY 3:
Here we go 4 on the missing list AWOL and it's only the 3rd day - more on this later..........Started off today much of the same with a light but fast paced warm up and then moved on to hard and fast hands and feet shadow boxing. Concentrated a lot more on the floor work this morning, working with a partner concentrating on fitness and core strengthening alongside some solid upper body strength workouts. No running today but still concentrated on some fast pads and bag work on the circuit followed by some hard shadow boxing. Finished off the morning with some final hard floor work to keep everyone brigh, breezy and fresh for FILMING tomorrow morning.
DAY 2:
All present and correct SIR, and five new recruits to-boot, so off to a good start. Started off with a light bit of floor work, warm-ups ans shadow boxing moving on to fast and hard shadow boxing. More floor exercises. Two seperate groups were formed, one doing laps of the gym whilst others did a non-stop circuit inside. Then as the circuit finished, the groups changed places and repeated the same. Then the entire group stayed inside and did fast hands on the pads. All in all a good boot camp today, but the question is, who will be the biggest loser? Weigh-ins will be every day and looking to see who has lost the most over the week. Chris McCosker made a welcome return to the gym and hasn't missed a day yet. Big question is, will he see out the week??
Second day of the new year and Boot Camp was back! 22 of the signed up 28 recruits turned up to kick start the new year off with a BANG. However, not a good start - to make it worse 5 were late, fines are in effect with 6 no-shows.
Today was all about floor exercises and the squad were broke in gently. For those who are planning to join us tomorrow after not be bothered to get up this morning for whatever excuse ( I heard the all before and some, said Murray....) Please remember you Fines and make payable directly to Mr Fullerton.
Comments
Circuits this morning were fantastic, so physically draining but felt great afterwards, a real buzz on the drive back to bangor. A really good way to start the day everyone should try it.

What a brilliant circuit workout this morning. So knackered I could barely ‘shake it out’ at the end! I only live a couple of miles a way though so I think there should be extra congratulations to those who come from much further, getting up in mid-winter at silly o’clock to take part. It’s all worth it though

Great session this morning - even if running in a hurricane is a little daunting!
By AlexAlex on 02 Jan 2012
if the gyn is cold in the morn Mr Murray - you will be getting fined!
By AlexAlex on 02 Jan 2012
Don’t know if enjoyed is the right word but I’m certainly glad I went. Christmas sleeping pattern meant I didn’t get to sleep until 4am then up at 530 to scrape ice of the car in the dark to drive to a cold room to do pushups, pressups and the rest. Roll on getting in shape!
