Magee had a rollercoaster year in 2011 starting off the year with a gutsy performance against ranked number 1 fighter Lucian Bute. The Belfast Super-Midleweight was stopped in the tenth round but put up one of the gutsiest performances of his career and helped to propel his name back on to the world rankings stage.
He then went on to win the WBA Interim Title in Costa Rica against tough local fighter Jamie Barboza and now he is setting his sightson brining a full World Title belt back to home shores.
His effort, dedication to the sport and gutsy performances in the ring deservedly earned him the Irish Boxer Of The Year gong at the awards in St Agnes Boxing Club, Belfast and hopefully this isn't the only prize we'll see Magee winning in what could be the biggest boxing year of his life to date.
