Frampton was set to fight the Portugese 'Mini Tyson' on the same Odyssey Arena fight card last September however unfortunately Martinez had to withdraw from the fight at the last minute as his father had taken seriously ill. The Belfast man although extremely disappointed sent his best wishes to Martinez and then went on the hunt for several possible opponents so not to disappoint the fight fans.
He was then sanctioned to fight for the then vacant Super-Bantamweight Commonweatlh title and quickly found tough and game Australian opponent Mark Quon to take him on for the belt. The tough Quon, who stepped in with only a few weeks notice held in for four rounds before being stopped with a thundering combination that sent him to the canvas, not to return.
Martinez isn't the only opponent on 'The Jackal's' Hit List, failing to secure a European title clash, Scott Quigg is also in his sights for a possible British title showdown but he will need to get past seasoned campaigner Hughes to continue not only his unbeaten record but to remain Commonwealth Champion.
