Frampton, who is unbeaten, out-pointed former champion Spaniard Kiko Martinez over 12 rounds to secure the title at the TItanic Quarter in front of a home-crowd of over 16,000 people in September 2014.
The 12th rounder sealed the victory to maintain his unbeaten record of 19 straight wins.
Both teams will attend a press meeting scheduled for next week to announce the date and venue for the contest with tickets expected to go on sale too.

Hi
Great news that Framptons first title defence is to shown live on ITV, so, lets hope the viewing figures are good and ITV are encouraged to agree to do more of his fights. Only snag with
this is Scott Quigg won’t get his big money shot as he is
contracted with Hearn and Sky pay per view.
That’s his problem, never thought he was box office anyway, he only wanted Frampton for a big pay day as he puts bums on seats , ie he needs Frampton, but Frampton doesn’t need him.
Mr. Hearn can chase Rigeoux, that’ll sell loads of tickets.
Regards.
Brian.
