Frampton withstood the best the Spaniard Martinez had to offer and at times Frampton's defence looked poor at times, but when a fighter has the power to produce a KO late in the ninth against a fighter like Martinez then there should be very little critics should say - apart from that, it was the performance of Carl Frampton's career and a big congratulations to him and his team.
"This is amazing - I just want the people of Belfast to be proud of me," said the new champ, Frampton
"I want to be a world champion and I am getting close. Martinez was harder to hit than I thought, and hard as nails.
"He is a big puncher and I got hit. I have proved I have got a solid chin - I can take them all day.
"With the help of this Belfast public, I can go right to the top."

Watched the fight live, Carl had a tough fight and at times Martinez took him out of his comfort zone, a great fight and a good Euro Champion eventually fell to a great knock out punch from the younger fighter. Martinez deserves a lot of praise for his spirit and constantly taking the fight to Frampton, it is a pity to see a champion end the fight on a ko. Many Congratulations to the Frampton, I think the young Hatchet Man can go all the way now. Regards.
