Casey confirmed he was approached by Frampton's camp about stepping in to be Martinez's replacement. However the two camps couldn't come to an agreement over a fee for the late minute match up and Frampton's search for an opponent continues.

The Limerick fighter will now focus on his comeback fight with Daniel Kodjo which takes place on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s Belfast bow in the King’s Hall on September 17.

When asked why the match didn't get made, Casey commented “Considering I only had a week to get ready you would assume they would have factored that into the offer. I presume they are not too upset with not having to fight me. Now they can get a few more fights under their belt before fighting me or fighting for the EBU title.”
