Chris will now embark on one of the hardest journeys he has ever had to face as he plans to lose all of the weight he last put on since finishing the trip to Japan.
For most kickboxers, shedding the odd kilo or two before a fight can be strenuous enough but Chris's monumental task of losing an entire 5 stone will be hardest he's faced.
This is a prime example of how anyone, with the right attitude, the right healthy eating plan, combined with the right training, no matter what their goals can achieve great things.
Chris will be the star of his own ProKick blog in which he will be updating his progress on a day to day basis and documenting the highs and lows of his journey so feel free to leave him some words of encouragement on the comments section at the bottom of his page.
"We have a history of helping people at ProKick, whatever your goal or your dreams." Said Billy Murray, ProKick's head coach.
"We've helped 100's of people lose weight and in some cases much more than Chris. We have also turned people into champions, national, British, European and even World Champions. Outside of the ring we have also helped so many in building better self-worth and regaining their confidence to deal with outside life away from the gym. Saying all that, it's really up to Chris how much he wants it, but one thing is for sure we'll not be off his back pushing him all the way until he has a weight off his ....."

Day 1: 19/07/2011 - This was Chris's first day back after nearly 8 months off, doing nothing apart from eating himself into a frenzy and boy, did he suffer. Started off with some light exercises and a bit of pad work, just a bit. Thought we were gonna have to phone him an ambulance (I wasn't giving him mouth to mouth!). Did some light floor exercises followed by a lap of the gym. The fastest lap ever recorded by a ProKick member was 1min 51 seconds and Chris managed to achieve one of the slowest times ever recorded of 7 mins 8 secs. He then had a break for a couple of hours and then jumped into one of the senior classes and managed to see it through to the end. Well done! We're still waiting to see if he's been doing his homework from yesterday and today.
Day 2: 20/07/2011 - THIS IS what Chris done on his own: On wednesday I done 5x2min rounds of shadow boxing in the morning time. Then I followed that with a 3 mile walk in the evening and again shadowed for 5x2mins round, It wasn't much but its a start!
Day 3: 21/07/2011 - Update from Chris: "Yesterday i did 5x2min rounds on the bag, shadow boxed for 5x2min b4 and walked 3 miles. Also resisted a bag of crisps. It's my best friend's 30th this weekend but i am driving. My lovely missus will be taking me and the wee man to ProKick and back Saturday morning. Bring it!"
Day 4: 22/07/2011 - No up-date from Chris,
Day 5: 23/07/2011 - Today was make or break for the Big man Chris, so we'll see if he's lost any weight?! Cris jumped on the scales - BRILLIANT!...Said Billy Murray 100-and 30.. that's a whopping 6 kilos off in just 5days.
After the back slapping, it was down to hard work again. an hour and a half of no-stop work - from basics to light pre-arranged sparring and yes it was tough and at times Chris wanted to stop, he kept going and yes this is what it takes if you want to get slimmer, hard work!
Day 6: 24/07/2011 - Chris will have an easier day on Sunday... but remember Big guy, stay of the pies.
Day 7: 25/07/2011 - Chris felt like taking some fresh air in today as he continues on his mission to lose the pounds. Although seeing as his workout so far for today consisted of a walk on the beach with the dog, he might not have lost as much at the start of this week as he did at the start of his first. He stated that he "Took the dog for a walk on a very big beach and never ate one pie."
Day 8: 26/07/2011 - Not off to a great start today. "Sorry I'm late (again) Sir, had to get a taxi here etc etc etc...on a plus note Chris hopped on the scales at 127.5kg so still a bit of a loss on the scorecard. Training today consisted of a hard circuit, some fast, sharp shadow boxing, some pad work and that all dreaded ProKick sprint lap. Time today......5min 13sec! That's a massive 2 minutes off his first time in just one week. Fantastic work Chris, let's keep it up!
**Chris also returned later on in the day and completed two classes (including a pads class) and a further lap of the gym**
Day 9: 27/07/2011 - "After running two laps of the gym I felt a little happier with myself so on top of that, I ran the whole length of the street as extra. I then walked for a while as a warm down. After that, it was back to bag work and being shown a few 'combos' from Ireland's top kickboxer, Mr. Murray (just had to csee if I remembered what I had been shown) I still feel the hard work payin off. There has been people on my face book saying how good it was to see me get back into it. Justin, any time you want a bit of pads and maybe give me a little help with jumping kicks, you're more than welcome."
Day 10: 28/07/2011 - "Today I walked for 3 miles, shadow boxed for 10 mins (hard) and did one set of 10 sit-ups and press ups.
Day 11: 29/07/2011 - Email from Chris regarding today's workout: " It's shopping day. Normally I'd be buying all the goodies, crisps sweet ect. but I had melon instead. It definitely helps to know i am losing the gut, my "fat man pants" keep fallin off me. It seems to me that almost every friend I have is celebrating their 30th birthday in July and more big booze ups are planned for this weekend but I'm determined to remain good. Today, I walked for 3 miles, did 6 x 2 min rounds of bag work, hardcore! Plus with the fact I'm not drinking this weekend, I hope its worth it tomorrow when I weigh in."
Day 12: 30/07/2011 - Today did an hour and a half of sparring at ProKick then went down to the swimming pool and did an hour and a half in there.
Day 13: 31/07/2011 - Today was my rest day. Walked the dog for a bit and relaxed, ready for tomorrow.
Day 14: 01/08/2011 - Did 10 minutes of shadow boxing and went for a 3 mile walk. Came back home and did 5 x 20m sprints with a few minutes rest bite inbetween.
Day 15: 02/08/2011 - Weighed in today at 126.5kg - Not really any change from last week. Did some pads work in the gym, some exercises and then did my fastest lap yet finishing in 4.40. 40 seconds off last week's time. **Chris is staying at the gym to do the scheduled 3 classes tonight, more updates from today's training to follow**
Day 16: 03/08/2011 - Email from Chris: "Did 2 walks today, 3miles each. Have to say, I did eat a lot but I cut the diet coke out completly. Later on in the day had some extra energy and did a lot of shadow boxing."
Day 17: 04/08/2011 - Walked to Peace Bridge and walked around St. Colm's Park and a further 3 miles.
Day 18 05/08/2011 - Walked 3 miles, swam for 20 lengths and jogged lightly (and very badly) for about 10 minutes.
Day 19: 06/08/2011 - Weigh in day today. Hopeed on the scales at 125kg so 1.5kg loss from last week. **Chris is starting the 12.45 pads class and also attempting his first 1 mile run with the fitness team.**
