Chris Simpson (Left) in The GuardMAEVE HEALY (Aisling McLaughlin) rules over Ballycore Garda Station and the Gardai under her charge with an iron fist, although secretly she holds a matriarchal fondness for a particular three.

The close bond between Maeve's Guards, DIARMUID (Emmett J. Scanlan), MALACHY (Chris Patrick-Simpson) and AIDEN (Steven Aldridge), is at the heart of the story, exploring their eventful and sometimes very painful personal lives and the dark side of Dublin through their warmth and humour.

Young, stubborn and impulsive, the lads are a lethal combination and Maeve has her hands full keeping them in line. They often communicate secretly or humorously in Irish language, used as a private code between them to frustrate antagonists or superiors.

When Maeve starts to realise how close the three are, she finally begins to understand how they work. The absolute loyalty between them assures her they are sound, despite first impressions.

In the coming months however, Maeve and the Guards continue to clash with increasing severity when they are forced to confront certain disturbing events, not on the streets of Dublin, but in their own lives, and with tragic consequences..
