McMullan, has had his own meteoric rise throughout the kickboxing ranks to-date the Ballygowan man lifting - British, European and Intercontinental titles in different disciplines, from Full-Contact to Thai-Style K-1 rules which is no easy task.
The match between McMullan and O'Neill is a prestige bout over 4x2 minute rounds and under Full-Contact rules. McMullan will find himself in the opposite corner from an extremely tough competitor. O’Neill, who is coached and mentored by, kickboxing dinosaur, master Billy O’Sullivan from Waterford's Kickboxing association, who's a veteran with over 40 years in the Martial arts and fight game.
ProKick head coach, Billy Murray was looking for the German champion, David Wachs to come to Belfast and face McMullan. Unfortunately, Wachs is out with injury and needs surgery to his knee.
" I know this will be a tough fight for Darren. Sean is a hard fighter with good experience, saying that Darren is also tough, he hasn't had an easy fight in his 20 outing as a fighter. He has travelled abroad for most of them and fought the best amateur fighters out there, that is great experence travelling away to fight in someone home town. If the fight was at K1 style then I would be happier, saying that I'm really excited about this match up."
Murray added, I'd like to thank Mr. Billy O’Sullivan for agreeing to bring his team to Belfast for our event 'Summer Kicks'. We'll make sure his team have a good time here and sample good Belfast hospitality."
Darren can be seen alongside some of his fellow ProKick team mates in Belfast on 30th June in the Holiday Inn on ProKick's latest event, ‘Summer Kicks’ were Ireland, North and South, will be showcasing some of the younger talent making their way into the competitive aspect of the sport, some returning to the ring and others for the very first time.
