A fight, never mind a title shot wasn't looking great for the Belfast sensation, managed by former World Champion Barry McGuigan after Spanish fighter Kiko Martinez pulled out of their European title clash due to personal reasons. A string of other names were thrown around as possible opponents including former European Champion from Ireland Willie Casey who just last week confirmed that he would not be taking the fight.
However an opponent in tough Australian fighter Mark Quon has now been found and the two will meet in the ring for the vacant Commonwealth title. Frampton and his camp feel he has the tools to bring a major belt back to Ireland.
This will be the main support bout on the undercard of Paul
McCloskey’s WBA Light Welterweight World title eliminator with
Breidis Prescott and event promoter Eddie Hearn says it was extremely important to
deliver a big fight for the fans, as promised.
More details and results from the event will be posted here on ProKick.com as they happen...
