The WKN World Kickboxing title between Zahra and Torres was broadcast LIVE on Eurosport on Friday February 8th 2013 - from the Benfica football club in Lisbon, Portugal.
The fight was a bit messy and untidy at times as Daniel Zahra, the a master, of making a good fighter look bad, because of his spectacular kicking style, led in the early rounds. The Maltese fighter Zahra, hassled, harried and pushed forward most of the fight, throwing a lot kicks.
Zahra, forced the fight for the first 3 rounds, The match evened-up in the 4th & 5th rounds with the Portuguese fighter Bruno Torres having a little more success but not a one-sided affair as the first 3 rounds.
At the end of the contest Bruno Torres was declared the winner - the arena burst with excitement and joy, perhaps even relief as many ringsiders thought Zahra had done enough.
Top Kickboxing coach and fight strategist team Noel Mercieca, spoke to ProKick.com when he arrived home in Malta:
"As a coach I must accept defeat graciously as well as victory. My fighter Daniel, did not use the low-kick as much I would have like or planned and the ring was very slippery so that made if difficult for both fighters. However, many people have seen the fight from many different countries and the most say they saw that Daniel had the first 3 rounds with a better and greater work rate and just being more affective as a fighter. In the last two rounds, again my opinion, the fourth was still good just Daniel got hit with a spinning kick - but Daniel did hit Torres with several good kicks and punches. For me it was a win for my Team and more importantly, a win for Malta."
Noel Mercieca went on to say;
"I would like to thank Mr Stephan Cabrera WKN world president for the great opportunity to compete on the WKN circuit and for the exposure of this LIVE TV event. A big massive thanks to all our sponsors and to my lovely country of Malta for the great support and my club Ying Yang Team Noel. I need to thank all the many well-wishers from all across the world for their kind messages that we received."
Let hope Bruno Torres' team and Team Noel feel the need for these two great teams to pit their fighters for a second instalment to help set this title in stone.
One of the best 'Bigger's Better' to date; great fights, audience and production.
Well done Mr Paulo Magalhaes and his team.

I definitely thought Zhara won, outclassed and outpointed Torres for the majority of the fight. The old adage rings true though, don’t leave it in tge hands of the judges!! Crazy crazy kicks, though!
