Murray will take a team to Hong Kong in early August to compete at an event promoter by the Ring Team and their boss, coach and promoter Mr Tsoi Tung Hiu. “There has never been an Irish team travel to Hong Kong to compete in kickboxing before, so obviously I’m delighted that I’ve been able to set this up,” said Murray.
“There are several details to sort out than what we have here with the WKN, of course, not lease that Tsoi Tung Hiu, like many in Hong Kong, has his fighters use the Muay Thai technique. This involves the use of knees and elbows, that I don’t coach and don’t encourage in competition.
“But at the moment I’m delighted that we’re going out. I’m delighted that the first ever kickboxing team from Ireland to compete in Hong Kong will be led by ProKick and WKN athletes. It’s an exciting move for kickboxing and a wonderful personal achievement.”
