The world has been talking about this so-called-fight for Van Damme which he has been preparing for now for about two years, and it's never felt any closer than this.
There have been talks of Golden Boy promoting the fight in Vegas, but after contacting the NSAC it was clear that they had never heard from anyone about a JCVD wanting to fight, ever.
There were talks about venues in Europe, China, Thailand, Japan, and even getting K-1 to promote the fight. There were even dates and then on-off again due to JCVD's schedule then there was trouble finding a suitable promoter - the list goes on and on and on again.
This time it seems like JCVD has finally found suitable partners and an arena to host the fight against Somluck Kamsing.
Internet reports indicate the legendary Fairtex gym will be hosting this mega show featuring JCVD's fight around November or December of this year in Thailand. Banjong Bussarakamwong of Fairtex is reputed to be promoting the fight and is currently looking for a suitable 30,000 seat arena, possibly the Impact Arena or the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium. There are talks that a down payment has been paid to secure the venue , lets wait and see if this fight will really happen but this is the most concrete news released to date about the fight to-date.
