Here is what Mr Tanikawa said in reference about K-1

K-1 event producer Tanikawa was on an internet talk show today. He said some interesting stuff. I’ll just list some stuff that was said…
Spike TV wanted to air K-1 but the president/manager/director who wanted to do so at the time was demoted.
He regrets lending Royce Gracie to UFC but it seems like he got really good money from them for it.
Sakuraba vs. Royce at Dynamite!! USA almost didn’t happen. Kiyoshi Tamura could have been Sakuraba’s replacement.
He thinks that even now PRIDE was more amazing than UFC is.
He says that globally K-1 do not have any rivals. He thinks that It’s Showtime is awesome but when they’re outside of Holland they don’t do very well.
If they do the K-1 World GP this year it will probably start from July and onward.
Was better when both K-1 and PRIDE existed. When PRIDE existed something like HERO’s shined.
He chose the fighters that participated on HERO’s based on their face.
If you’re gonna do MMA do Heavyweights. Likes the Strikeforce GP.
Tanikawa seems to like “who’s gonna win?” (well-made match-ups in regard to fighting level) more than the star system.
He wants to do the Heavyweights, Middleweights, and Lightweights in one event (but K-1 has been on two different TV networks).
Thinks the next Masato is in China.
They will change name from FEG to something new.
Claims that both Ray Sefo and Bob Sapp have been paid. There are no unpaid fighters.
He likes single fight events more than tournaments. Since he grew up with pro-wrestling he likes single fights that mean something.
There probably won’t be any big event until fall or later.
Let hope that FEG find a solution to their troubles and K1 takes it's place back as one of the No.1 kickboxing promotion companies.
