The ProKick kickboxing gym, run by former world champion Billy Murray, has seen a huge rise in siblings, parents and their offspring joining as members – with many keen on following a ring career side by side.
“It’s been incredible recently,” said Murray. “The O’Briens are the latest in a long line of brothers and sisters joining the gym together. It usually starts with the kids joining. When their parents see how much fun it is, how much the kids confidence grows and how great kickboxing is for fitness, they start asking about classes too. And I’m delighted. Kickboxing is a wonderful sport for all the family and we welcome everyone regardless of age or ability.
"There are several junior brother and sisters at Prokick, who are now keen on moving up to the next level and getting ready to take part in Prokick Says competitions and compete for the Brooklands Cup. In recent years, ProKick has produced a host of world, European and national title holders, in both the professional and amateur ranks of kickboxing. It has been the driving force in making Northern Ireland the centre for kickboxing in Europe. A thriving gym, its reputation is known worldwide."
