Seven local ProKick competitors took part in an explosive show 'Lords of the Ring' at the Ulster Hall on September 13th and stole the show by winning, not one but FIVE new world championship crowns for Belfast. What better way for the local athletes’ to celebrate than at the pleasure of our dynamic new Lord Mayor.

Speaking with Alex Kane from the Belfast Telegraph days after taking her new position Nichola Mallon said "I will celebrate and showcase Belfast's heroes – the coaches, mentors, carers, volunteers – all those who give compassionately and selflessly, with little recognition, to their communities. For me these are Belfast's true First Citizens and they deserve recognition.

Being true to her word Nichola Mallon will recognise the efforts of ProKick Coach Billy Murray and his Lords of the Ring Team (You can see picture for team members) on Monday for their hard work and dedication to the sport of kickboxing. The team are honoured to accept her invite and realise that with her busy schedule it’s a real privilege to have tea in her parlour any day of the week.

Summer just hasn’t stopped for the city since Nichola Mallon was appointed earlier this year and local people have embraced her charm and enthusiasm, as well as her plans to acknowledge hard workers and encourage hard play.

It’s all hard play at ProKick and the recent show at the Ulster Hall was a 25th year celebration for head Coach and founder Billy Murray. It marked the anniversary of his first professional world title in kickboxing for Ireland and was sold-out. Every bout was for a world title and we can assure you nothing like this has ever been done in Europe before (or anywhere else that we know of). It was a very special night of sport for our city and Belfast came away on top with FIVE new world champions, one draw and one loss. This gives Belfast`s ProKick a total of six current world champions - truly something for our city to celebrate and enjoy.

The Lord Mayor has recently opened the grounds of City Hall for public entertainment with her wish to make Belfast a city of enjoyment, "I also want to build on the image of Belfast as a city of enjoyment. We have hosted a number of outstanding events recently – the MTV awards, the World Police and Fire Games, the Giro d'Italia. I want to help create our own events within the city to build on that legacy and bring people together to be active and simply have fun."

At ProKick Billy Murray has been doing just this for the last 4 decades. We bring people together through sport, unite communities, invite foreign visitor and competitors to our shores through sport and at the same time making new friends from different cultures…More importantly, we create role models and sporting heros - our latest batch off the conveyer - Five new home-grown sporting World Champions - all made in Belfast!
