ProKick British and European Champion Mark Bird will be taking a year off while he goes to University.
Mark Bird On Year Out
ProKick's Mark Bird will be taking a year out of the sport as he travels to Leeds next week to start his university Sports Science course. The Lisburn based WKN British and European Champion is heading off to further his education but vows that his kickboxing career is far from finished.
Mark is one of the country's rising talents in the sport of kickboxing and has been heralded as a name for the future by not only ProKick head coach and former World Champion Billy Murray but also by many of the sport's top names from past and present including none other than K1 legend, "Mr Perfect" Ernesto Hoost.
One of Mark's shining achievements to date was where he, along with two other ProKick fighters were invited along to Switzerland to fight on the under card of the much awaited Jerome Le Banner Vs Stefan Leko fight and won a tough fight against the French Thai-Boxing Champion Clément Challon.
Mark was also one of the ProKick team who travelled to Nagoya, Japan last December to compete in the Hoost Challenge Cup winning the award for the Best Technical Fighter of the tournament.
The 21 year old Lifeguard from Lisburn will be missed by all of his ProKick team mates around the gym but wishes him all the best as he takes on his degree and we all look forward to seeing him back at the gym.
