All eyes might be trained east at present with the Olympics – but come this Monday August 25th the attention of the kickboxing world will be firmly focused on Northern Ireland. On August 25 at 1.30pm the new seven wonders of the sporting world will be unveiled.
Details will be revealed of the most incredible, most audacious – some may say most foolhardy – kickboxing event ever to hit Ireland.
It will see, on December 1, seven world titles up for grabs on one card.
What makes it more remarkable is that seven of the contenders will come from all over Ireland – with most from kickboxing figurehead Billy Murray’s celebrated ProKick Gym in Belfast.
K1 and Kickboxing legend Ernesto Hoost – the winner of the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent Irish Kickboxing Awards show – will be present at the launch.
The kickboxing giant Hoost is no stranger at big events as he won the K1 Grand Prix 5 times in front of 60’000 people and broadcast LIVE to millions all over the world.
A selection of the local stars competing at the event, including world champion Gary Hamilton will also be in attendance when he comes face-face with Englishman and world champion Marty Cox Jnr.
All will be available for interviews and picture opportunities.
Time: 1.30pm,
August 25, 2008
Location: Holiday Inn Ormeau Avenue, Belfast - Opposite the BBC
Refreshments will be served to pass holders.
