Father of four Adrian - the novice and nutritional student at Queen's University - is gearing up for his debut fight in the ring in two months.
At the same time, Adrian Murphy, a long-term student of Prokick head coach Billy Murray, will aim to graduate with a black-belt in the sport.
Former four-time world champ Murray said: "It's not often to men with the same name attend the gym and find themselves at two extremes of the sport. The achievements of the more senior Murphy student will act as an inspiration to the 'new' Murphy student. He has been a hard-working member since joining Prokick and his family should be proud of him. It's a big challenge to step into the ring for the first time so soon after taking up the sport but Adrian's committment to achieve that aim is second-to-none."
Adrian will appear on Prokick's Next Generation bill - a showcase of first-time fighters - in March in Belfast.

Murphy’s law
It's Murphy's law that two men who have led separate lives with the same name would be breaking sweat for a sporting achievement in March - in the same gym. That's the case at East Belfast's world famous kickboxing gym where Adrian Murphy, the novice fighter, and Adrian Murphy, the experienced one, have come face-to-face.
