Jess who dedicated the fight to the memory of his son Callum, who died in a cotdeath last year, just didn’t have enough in the tank to unseat the European champion from Portugal.
Jess was quite verbal and didn’t want the fight to end but his coach Billy Murray thought it was one bridge too far as he was still charged with emotions of the loss of his son. “This time Jess takes on current Super welterweight champion Paolo Oliveira, a countryman of Carvhlo.” Said Murray
“After the defeat against Carvhlo, Stuart had a lot of soul searching to do and since then he has not stopped training, he’s lighter, fitter, stronger and faster and that’s why we’ve got him a shot at the lower weight division.”
Topping the Bash n Mash bill is the charismatic Gary Hamilton in a prestigious Full-Contact match 7x2 minute rounds against Lincoln’s Shawn Burton a current British and European Champion.
Teenage kickboxing heartthrob Mark Bird is in a change of rules match with Mikey Shields from Scotland as they battle over 4x2 minute rounds in a Light- welterweight K1-Style match up which allows the use of kicks, punches and knees.
Newcomer in the camp, with a lot of clout behind him is super heavyweight Pawel Gorka. Originally from Poland, Pawel wants to become a kickboxing champion and there’s no place better to learn from than Prokick Gym.The mighty Pole will face England’s Nigel Penlington in a low kick contest.
MC for the evening is Jumping Joe Lindsay, BBC radio and TV personality. A special guest for the evening is still under wraps.
