McCloskey hasn't fought since he defeated Breidis Prescott in Belfast last year and is hoping that the fight with Diaz, a former IBF World Champion of recent years, will help to secure him the big named opponents he needs to start chasing a world title once more.
McCloskey was recently interviewed about the fight and when asked he quoted, "It has been very frustrating as no-one wanted to fight me and we asked numerous people. We spoke to Zab Judah and Paul Malignaggi and none of them wanted the fight." He went on to add, "The fight against Prescott was a World Title eliminator, but that has not happened, so I just have to get on with it."
