Day 6 – Last day! I really enjoyed today, two mad kids classes, a heap of balloons and some very unfit adults!

The first kids class I completely messed up the warm-up, it’s quite hard to have a balance between what the kids have the ability to do, what will keep them entertained and keep them quiet! Because with the adults you can simply tell them to shut up or dish out some punishment star jumps! The next kids class was better as I gained some confidence when the girls all came in saying hello and that they had enjoyed Tuesday night.

The 12.30 class was good; I finally got Gary Fullerton running! Ha! Now I’m definitely looking forward to getting better at motivating the class and almost wish I didn’t have to start back into training on Monday night!

Overall I really enjoyed the week, I got to take part in lots of interesting activities such as; photography, filming, instructing, coffee runs, (the not so fun hoovering and membership entering) and some good paper jokes!

When filling in my placement book for school I didn’t even have enough space to write down everything I did, so at least it wasn’t boring.

I also got a good review from Mr Murray, which evidently means the week was a great success. Thanks for reading this, and guys sorry about the warm-ups! I really can’t stress enough that you do NOT need to get payback on me next week!

Day 5 – I’m thinking that I should have turned into Popeye at some point today due to all the hoovering I have had to endure over the week! It’s hard work!

Again, Paul, stop leaving comments! I have had enough punishment, and I was nicer with my warm up last night, therefore there should be no repercussions...

Today I called times for Gary and Mark in the ring, had some dinner then tried, and failed to write a piece on Ernesto Hoost, along with even MORE membership entering!

Oh, and I also took another warm up, but it’s beginning to become old news now, even if I still enjoy it. I’m looking forward to finishing off tomorrow, but I will be a tad annoyed returning to school at 9am on Monday morning, I could have easily gotten used to the 2.30 start.

Check back tomorrow for my final blog.

Rebekah's work experience at the ProKick Kickboxing GymDay 4 – Got off to a rocky start; I was VERY late! But no harm was done. The video last night went well, although a hard kick to ribs was not pretty to watch! Other than that we got some good footage from the ring.

Fran managed to keep all papers and tables from catching fire at dinner tonight! Well done Fran.

I took another warm-up tonight, a lot nicer than my first, and I think the class will agree; so no threats this time please!

Teaching is becoming a lot easier; I’m not standing scared at the front I’m beginning to create patterns and a structure to the 20 minutes I have, and this seems to benefit the class, more so than if I was standing in front of them drawing a blank on what I should do.

I also learnt how to put pictures and text on the webpage, properly this time! Again I would say it’ quite easy stuff. Check back tomorrow for my penultimate blog!

Rebekah's work experience at Prokick kickboxing GymDay 3 – Hoovering again today! It’s easier the second time though; with my IPod intact! This has been the easiest day so far, no mopping!

I spent most of the day entering the memberships; but it wasn’t too bad, I can see the end of the pile now! Other than that I ate some ice cream (courtesy of the lovely Brooke Murray) and taught a beginners class; left and right outside crescent kick, which turns out to be quite hard in the beginning.

The most useful thing I learnt today was how you must keep your class on the same wavelength, or else you have all kinds of moves going on at all different times, it is funny to watch I’ll admit but makes trying to teach them properly a lot harder.

I’m quite looking forward to tomorrow, another senior class! Only joking! I can’t be that mean twice in the one week!

Last minute! This is my “topdog” mission of the day! Helping out the videoing the sparring class, what fun! Check back tomorrow for another update.

Rebekah's work experience at Prokick kickboxing GymDay 2 – I was handed a Hoover the minute I walked into the gym today, I thought to myself; this must be payback for the warm-up in last night’s 7pm class, so thanks very much Paul your comment on my blog caused me some very severe back pain!

I also got some stick from Dessie when he arrived, apparently it was abuse, but if I’m honest, that was the reaction I was hoping for! Payback is awesome!

After my cleaning I took some photos of sparring in the ring, which was a lot harder than I thought, I almost wanted them to stand still for 2 minutes while I picked my angle and took the photo! But I got some good embarrassing shots; hopefully they will be posted along with this.

Next I had to do some more membership entering, followed by the kid’s class at 6pm, some good potential in that class, even if they are a little mad! This brought back memories of being a Prokick Kid, I remember feeling quite special when I received a high grade and made it to the top line! I spent the end of my day writing my blog and seeing how everything goes onto the webpage, it’s easy stuff when you know how to work it!

Overall today was a lot easier than yesterday, mainly because of my lie in, which, I think I deserved after my first day! I’m looking forward to the rest of the week though; I’ll keep you posted on the goings-on of tomorrow!

Day 1- My first day consisted of an unnecessary early start as I didn’t actually start work until 2.30! (Yes folks Rebekah thought it was a 9am start)

Rebekah's work experience at Prokick kickboxing Gym Most of the day was spent entering membership details onto a database but the night picked up around 6 when I went with Fran for hot chocolate before getting to take my first class, all I can say is; if you think you know your moves, you are probably very wrong, as I had to be taught simple moves again to enable me to teach them!

My first class went well, the guys really listened and picked up the moves quite quickly, I thought it was quite impressive for a class just out of their beginner’s course.

The next class was the best experience, my own class, was brilliant to finally get revenge on everyone for all the hard warm-ups that I’ve had to endure over the years!

I got great pleasure out of telling Gary Hamilton what to do! So overall my day was filled with being thrown into the deep end, with membership forms and teaching classes, but I won’t complain as I haven’t been asked to clean...... yet!
