Normally it is the press who dominate theese meetings with questions of opponent's, dates and the undercard. But when an irate boxer in the form of Belfats's Martin Rogan appears and takes over, it seems that it was more to do with the disagreements between the two fighters rather than the prmotion of Fury's Kings Hall event.
Again the accusations regarding midde-men and underhanded offers were put to promoter Hennessy, alongside reports that Rogan was lined up to be, at Hennessy's request, a last minute stand in for Derek Chisora should the then Champion pull out of the fight a few months prior.
Although there is still tension between the two boxers (not forgetting the fans who want to see the fight) Rogan stated, “My problem is not with you personally Tyson. You’re a fighter like myself and best of luck on September 17. I said no to Mick and should that not be good enough?”
Fury responded with the fact that still has a lot of respect for Rogan as a fighter and does in fact want to step into the ring with the Prizefighter winner, “Martin and I have always got on well before now, I came over and sparred when I was 17 years old,” said Fury. I’ve seen Rogan fighting, and beating, top men on TV in a Cinderella story. Regardless of whether we fight or not, I respect him and I can’t wait to show the Belfast public my skills on September 17."
Fury's opponent is yet to be named but talks are ongoing about a possible clash with Irish Heavyweight champion Coleman Barrett. The 22 year old Manchester based fighter has now proved his Irish lineage and is now eligible to challenge for the Irish title.
