K1 fight great, Semmy Schilt has been forced into retirement from all combat sports due to a heart condition
Semmy Schilt ProKick wish you a Great retirement
Bad news for the world of kickboxing as K-1 Fight legend, Semmy Schilt was forced into retirement from all combat sports due to a heart condition. Schilt, who is to turns 40 in October, had been hoping to defend his Glory World Series Heavyweight Title against Gokhan Saki, but now is out of all fight activity from now. It is un-clear exactly what the problem is with the four-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion.
The nearly seven foot tall Dutchman was a four-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion, with tournament victories in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and is widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight kickboxer of all time.
We wish Mr Schilt's a happy and long retirement - I'm sure we'll hear from him again in the future, perhaps as a commentator or even promoter/manger.
