In spite of the cold snap, matters started heating up in the Prokick Gym in Belfast on Saturday when 22 budding students who all signed up for their first venture in competitive kickboxing - got under way
But the hard work starts now. On Monday morning, when most folk will be turning into their second sleep, the Next Generation fighters will hit the dark roads of East Belfast at 6am for the beginning of Boot Camp - week one.
They will go through a daily 45minute intense session under the guidance of head coach Billy Murray and former fighter Robert Masterson.
Training details for the Next Generation platoon will be posted here on ProKick.com - Fighter new-look profiles will be up-dated very soon!
Six people were on the missing list - that is their first strike, " two strikes and you are OUT". Said Murray

Leval 2 Sparring Class Final Stage
Sir i would just like to forward my appreciation to the guys and girls of Leval 2 Sparring Class who I sparred with on Wednesday nights class at 7pm.
Just over 4 weeks ago I had the task of taking them on in the ring on a round robin, and to be honest I did find it easy to use my experience to play them with whatever combination or kick or punch i felt nesscessary…
HOWEVER
This Wednesday 13th Jan i had the Pleasure of meeting them again for a rematch as such and boy did I take my first encounter for granted.
I was amazed at the total difference these guys had in not only their ability to punch and kick both in single and combination moves, but also their ability to block kicks and punches and their fitness leval has changed dramatically also, this time around they were coming at me rather than it all one sided and they kept coming…
I found myself (without realising it) going harder and faster to not only play the game but also to stop all your kicks and punches..now I know I made a few knee kicks and at times riased the stakes slightly and I think greig took my smelly foot to the face, but when your in their you feel different and ready for the fight as im sure you all know..
Well done Greig on steaming straight back in there without hesitation..
Needless to say at the end of my 6th Opponent I was totally exhausted and was worked so hard…my legs, nose and shoulders are sore but I still had imense enjoyment in doing so and Im proud to say that quite a few of these guys really have what it takes to be competitive in the ring..
This is living proof that hard work, determination, and belief in yourself and those training you that we can acheive whatever we wish..
Well done Leval 2 Sparring and I hope you enjoy moving forward onto Leval 3 to the eventual ultimate acheivment of the fighters class and for some of you the Ring…
RESPECT
Mark.
If your contemplating trying out the sparring class, my only advice is to try it, feel it, see it…you will be surprized at how controlled this is and how much you will get out of it, it not only improves your fighting technique but also help you in your normal syllabus class and your fitness leval really does improve..
Just give it a go, and if its not for you, then no worries, but at least you have tried…

Wow thats some bunch of Next Generation Fighters and i hope they all had a good sparing session..
Well done everyone attending..though im shocked 6 fighters didnt turn up..like this aint exactly a normal class…
Good luck everyone and please please remember, that no matter whats thrown at you, no matter how exhaused you are..You can do it..Thats why your there..
Next step is to train hard, get the right attitude and start those fires inside you and come out fighting..
i have been there and boy is there times your knackered and feel you have nothing left, I Remember once in class i said to myself ” what am i doing here” and yes Mr Murray seen me and lip read what i said…he then responded to me saying..your here because you know you can do it, your getting fitter and your questioning yourself just because your feeling not as fit today….so take a big breath and MOVEEEEEEE
Everyones behind you all, both at prokick, at home and at your work….
Keep it strong…
M.
