Daniel Cormier had his doubters silenced after two consecutive dominating performances over high-level heavyweights, he's proven himself as a deserving contender and now he has lifted the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix title.
Cormier was nothing more than a wrestler when he signed with Strikeforce, but it was his striking that set the tone throughout the fight. His unique combination of power, speed, and wrestling will make it difficult for any MMA or more so UFC heavyweight to beat him. I'm sure MMA fans can't wait to see him make the leap to the Ultimate Fighting Championship arena.
If you haven't seen the Gilbert Melendez vs Josh Thomson match from this card, then try and see it - it's muted a fight of the year candidate!
Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael Cavalcante demolished Mike Kyle via guillotine choke in just 30-odd seconds. He started the fight with a powerful knee followed up by some punches that rocked Kyle and left him open for the submission. It was an impressive performance which should set up a title shot as soon as Gegard Mousasi is healthy.
Overall, Strikeforce delivered another outstanding show. If you didn't see the event LIVE then try get a chance to see a replay of the event, you won't be disappointed.
