Fowler, 35 and originally from the UK but fighting out of a gym in New South Wales, Australia was leading up to a deciding rematch against a long time rival when he collapsed in the ring and was taken immediately to hospital. Friends and team mates claimed he was completely lucid and confident leading up to the fight and when he collapsed it was a massive shock to everyone in the venue.
Rumours and preliminary conclusions are already circulating but a definitive cause of death is yet to be determined. Nevertheless, this tragic incident has made some sports groups call for tighter regulations in the sport in Australia.
A sad, sad loss to the world of Kick/Thai Boxing and he will be deeply missed by all.

Kickboxing Champion Mark Fowler tragically died on Monday night after collapsing in the ring. Fowler recently won the WBC New South Wales Full Muay Thai title and was already talking up a re-match against a long time rival when he fell in the ring. He was rushed immediately to hospital by the event staff but tragically passed away on Monday.
