The Belfast single mum will face German champion Caroline Abe of Berlin. Abe will be coming to Belfast with a fight record of 12 matches, with 8 wins. Agnew also has an impressive ring career with 17 contests, and 11 wins.
ProKick's head coach Billy Murray confirmed the fight after talks with WKN President Mr Cabrera: "This is good news for us in the sport of kickboxing in Northern Ireland to have Ursula defend her world crown here in Belfast. Ursula took the title in Belgium from the, then, reigning champion, Kimberley 'The Bullet' Dewulf. The clash is set for next weekend and I would like to see fight fans come out and support one of Belfast's own little known but big hitting world champions."
Ursula Agnew started training in kickboxing in 2008 at ProKick Lisburn club. She became inspired to take up the sport after watching the K1 Grand Prix on Eurosport.
Agnew, a Beauty Therapist, found herself traveling to fight in Tokyo, Japan with fellow ProKick team-mates and later to watch the K1 Grand Prix tournament after just a few years training. Who would have thought that just five years later Agnew, by watching K1 on TV, would travel the world, become a Celtic Nation, British and European champion and then go on to lift the WKN world amateur title away from home in Belgium. And now the single mum of one will have a defence of her hard earned world title in her home city of Belfast.
Agnew will be joined on ProKick's 'Summer Kicks' by champions Darren McMullan, Samantha Robb, Alex Coicoi and popular father of five, Davy Foster along in a full international fight card with fighters from Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland along with the home nations ROI, England and Scotland.
Tickets are priced £20, £10 for children. £40 for ringside. A special price of £5 for ProKick Kid members, children under 16 years old must be accompanied with an adult.
