The teenager is on the last leg of his fundraising to take him on the fortnight trip is about to under-go the discomfort of a full body wax to raise the last of the £1,000 needed.

His coach at ProKick, Billy Murray, is proud of what his student is doing. “There aren’t many teenagers who’d give up their summers to work in the dust and heat doing something as tough, but worthwhile, as this,” he said.

“I have so much admiration for young Adam. He’s a great student of kickboxing and has shown much of the same determination in character that has driven him to help those less well off in Romania. He tells me that Habitat for Humanity have already built 250,000 homes around the globe. That’s tremendous.”

Adam is a pupil at Ashfield school. The programme is part of Turnbull’s church group from CFC Christian Fellowship.
