Welterweight Foster looked down and out at the end of the first round but at the start of the second he swarmed all over Corigliano and was unfortunate not to record a knockdown in his favour. Having done enough to win the second round, Foster’s fitness shone through in the third and finally he put the Frenchman on the deck and stole victory from the jaws of defeat.

Foster claimed the first of six wins out of eight for the Prokick team – Paul Best and Ken Horan lost their contests on a memorable night of action.

Former rugby player Best was stopped by Irish boxing prospect Kenneth Okungbowa – referee Gary Langford stepping in after Okungbowa sent Best through the ropes in the second round.

“Paul was a bag of nerves and let the occasion get to him,” said coach Billy Murray.

“He is a better fighter and I was confident he would beat big Kenneth but his game-plan just seemed to go out the window.”

Galway’s Ken Horan was ahead on points when Waterford’s Sean O’Neill caught him cold with a big right hand and wobbled the ring veteran. Horan was stopped in round three of the breathtaking middleweight contest.

But Billy Murray’s camp recorded more victories with Karl McBlain, Darren McMullan, Peter Rusk and Stuart Jess having their hands raised.

Jess impressed in his win over Ballysillan man Aubrey Tarr, who was without a cornerman at the start of the night and relied on former opponent Gary Hamilton at his side during his welterweight showdown.
