The Portuguese fighter stopped Moroccan Hicham Bettaini in the first round of their elimination bout. His next bout was against Fabio Teixeira who didn’t put up much of a show due to his first hard bout against Northern Irish man Ian Young.

The final was an all Portuguese clash with Reis taking on Jose Veiga. The fight was so close on the judges cards that it went to an extra round with Reis finally getting the nod from the judges. Some ringsiders believed that an extra round was unnecessary as Reis had done enough over three rounds to win.

World title action was also seen on the night as Northern Ireland’s Stuart Jess was hoping he could make it third time lucky to be crowned as a world amateur WKN super welterweight Full Contact champion.

It was a close fight that went down to the judges scorecards and a split decision gave it to the Portuguese fighter Oliviera.

The champion Jose Oliviera said, “Stuart fought very well this time and I know it was a very close fight that could have easily went to him that’s why I am willing to come to Ireland for a rematch.”

All in all a great event, great fights live on BenficaTV to over 60 countries across the globe. Congratulations to the Promoter of the event, Mr. Paolo Magalhaes Silva
