Ian Young, nicknamed Mr Cheekbones by his training partners at the renowned ProKick in east Belfast, clocked up over 1,000 friends on the social networking site in recent months. 
Many were fellow martial artists, keen to talk to the WKN European super welterweight low leg kick champ. But as his name spread through the site so did the contacts from keen females.

“It seems to have got to the point where he was getting little else,” laughed his coach Billy Murray. 

“Ian thought the profile would let other kickboxers see what he is about, but I guess those chiseled features brought him all sort of attention. It got to the point where he was getting probably too much attention. It was becoming a distraction.”Murray added: “He gave up mySpace for the love of his life. His girlfriend Debbie, I mean – not kickboxing!”
