A Belfast schoolgirl is firing on all cylinders on her way to a prestigious kickboxing event in Geneva - thanks to grandfather’s employers. Abie Macartney, 12, will be one of the young stars at the UNICEF HQ in Geneva this week for the launch of a new Europe-wide initiative to promote peace through kickboxing. The avid young athlete was one of the first people to benefit from a pilot scheme in Belfast that has grown to become the pan-European Fighting For Peace Programme. Abie had hoped her grandfather Desi could join her at the glitzy launch.
