Northern Ireland’s talented young kickboxing stars came out in force to take part in yet another monthly fun day that tests their skills and development in the martial art. The monthly competition has become an important part of the ProKick calendar. The ProKick gym’s young students, aged from 6 to 12, take part in the fun day which is called ‘Prokick Says’, and is based on the old playground game ‘Simple Simon Says’ along with other fitness and exercise type tests. Coach and former world champion Billy Murray tests his students through a variety of games that incorporate the use of kickboxing manoeuvres and skills. " We have three level of classes at the Prokick gym for kids every Saturday – Beginners to yellow belts, then orange and green belt levels and finally blue to brown belt experienced level. We started this a few months ago and found it has helped increased the standard of the kids not just in the class activities but in competition too.” Murray added, “ At our Prokick Says day the aim is doing something different for the younger members of the gym, which helps eliminate any stress or built up aggression the children may have. This also helps the children focus toward their grading syllabus. "They don’t see it as a test they see it as an occasion to have a laugh and step outside their disciplined class for a day and have FUN.” Some of the Medal winners from the ProKick Says Kickboxing Fun Day On top of having a good time and passing grades and taking part in healthy competition, the teeny-tiny kickboxers get special one-to-one coaching from some of Prokick’s world champions.
