Fear not fight fans as the former world champion will still headline The Lords of the Ring this Saturday 13th September.
" I'm so disappointed for Gary as he got himself really up for the fight, I haven't seen this motivation from him in years, it’s the Belfast Boy of old”, said Hamilton's coach Billy Murray. “We have had to dig deep and spared no expense to provide a new opponent for Gary.”
The WKN`s Mr Cabrera has managed to get world-rated fighter Paolo Renna from Girardi Gym, Belgium. The 25 year-old will come to Belfast with a fight record of 31 fights with 2 draws and only two defeats."
With the withdrawal from Scotland`s Sam Allan (aka The Cadbury Kid), South Belfast champion Gary Hamilton is showing no signs of melting under the pressure himself and is looking leaner and meaner than ever before.
Gary Hamilton added, " I am very disappointed this has happened and the fight is off, they were the one's always pushing this fight. But that's the fight-game and there's nothing that can be done as injuries do happen. I wish Sam a speedy recovery and hope that another fight with Sam can confirmed in the future. A new fighter is coming over this weekend and I know little about him but that doesn't matter as I'm 100% ready and focused for this Saturday's mega show. On Sept 13th I will become a two-weight World champion ."
The show is being held to celebrate 25 years since ProKick owner, coach and promoter Billy Murray won the first pro World title in kickboxing for Ireland, and to mark the event Murray is gathering seven home-grown fight stars of the present and future, all of whom will challenge for a world title on the night.
The Lords of the Ring show opens its doors this Saturday night at the Ulster Hall and will feature seven World title fights during one night, all at the same venue. A show of this magnitude has never been attempted before in Europe and for some the cracks are starting to show.
There are limited tickets available, but you can get the last remaining few by contacting ProKick Gym on 028 9065 1074, emailing info@prokick.com or popping in to the gym itself on Wilgar Street.
Alternatively call the Ulster Hall box office on 028 9033 4455 - Or Click/Box to Fight-Card for more information.
