Wednesday May 20th 2015
Week 5: The sparring class was on the penultimate week. Started off warming up just boxing at range then mixing it up with body boxing head contact allowed and on to full contact style NO low point kicks. Next week will be the finale of this beginners sparring course and everyone will have the opportunity to take part in a 2 x 1 minute round ring exercise that will be a step up from your normal classes but will still be kept to a safe contact level, same time next week!
Wednesday May 13th 2015 - was, week No.4 of ProKick's new kickboxing sparring course. Just 2 people down on last week session. The class kicked off with another quick chat from head coach Billy Murray, he explained the some members were to spar inside the ring and have a chance to step it up another level albeit still in a controlled situation. The first eight were set in motion all spending 2 rounds in the ring each under full-contact rules and when finished another six set off to achieve the same. Girls will have their chance next week on week No.5 and the conclusion will be the finale on week SIX when everyone will complete the same on the end session. Well done all so far!
Week 3 -Wednesday May 6th 2015 - and it was week No.3 of the brand new ProKick kickboxing sparring course. Just 4 people down on last week session. The class also had a few fighters from the 7pm class but they all worked completely separately from the new beginners sparring class. The class kicked off with a quick recapping on what was accomplished over the last couple of weeks. More combinations skills were tough along with counters to kicks. These type of classes are just sparring classes NOT a fighters class and are designed for the kickboxing enthusiast who want to step up another level and have a sparring session with the understanding that it is in a controlled environment and a class with no fighters or competitors in it.
Week 2 - April 29th was week 2. of the brand new ProKick kickboxing sparring course. Just 3 down from last week, however apologies were made in advance. The packed class kicked off again recapping on what was learn't last week. More evasive skill were tough along with counters against kicks. These ProKick sparring classes are designed for those who just want a few rounds of sparring to improve their technique. These type of classes are just sparring classes NOT a fighters class and are designed for the kickboxing enthusiast who want to step up another level and have a sparring session with the understanding that it is in a controlled environment and a class with no fighters or competitors in it.
Week 1 started April 22nd - the first night saw the first class of ProKick's Level 1 sparring. Which is the kicks above the waist style of kickboxing - known traditional as Full Contact Style.
On April 22nd was week 1. of a brand new ProKick kickboxing sparring course. The packed class kicked off and with more new sparring wannabes - the class kicked into action for week 1 with a chat from Billy Murray who led-out the do's-and-don't s for the next 6 weeks. These ProKick sparring classes are designed for those who just want a few rounds of sparring to improve their technique. These type of classes are just sparring classes NOT a fighters class and are designed for the kickboxing enthusiast who want to step up another level and have a sparring session with the understanding that it is in a controlled environment and a class with no fighters or competitors in it.
Please note, this course is just for ProKick members who have never taken part in a sparring course before or have competed in any manner.
IMPORTANT, if anyone wishes to become a competitor please talk with your instructor, for a class suitable for you!

Oh My Goodness!!! This class was great, such a good work out I was busted at the end! (Ok it was a good bit before the end). I have so much more respect for all the fighters after doing this little taster..it showed me how unfit I am..Thank you Billy for having us

Very tough but enjoyable night. Glad I signed up for the course though maybe should be writing this in the morning to see how I feel then. Roll on next week.
