The technical site engineer, Smith, who works for Calor Gas at the oil refinery in Belfast, is a man with a burning desire to become King in the professional ranks of kickboxing. The 28 year-old is still on a high from his recent travels to the #WMAG (World Martial Art Games) in Geneva. That’s where Johnny ‘Swift’ Smith stopped top Swiss fighter, Julien Domingos in a K1 style fight with a clinical knee to the head at the beginning of the second round. And back in June this year (2015) Smith had a devastating win as he defended his WKN amateur world title against the rated 21 year-old Yuhei Tsuda from the RISE Gym in Tokyo, Japan. When asked why he had chosen this as his next step, Smith replied; “It’s a natural progression, I feel as if I’m come to the tipping point, I want to be pushed and tested. I want to see how far I can go. I want to see what my limit is and then push past it and set new ones. Samuel Debalke is a good all-round martial artist, he fights out of TriStar gym in Montreal, Quebec, for his MMA - they have the likes of Georges St. Pierre a former UFC champion training there. He, (Samuel) also competes in conventional Boxing, Muay-Thai and Kickboxing, therefore has a lot of fighting experience, with great people around him by way of the legendary coach Mr Vic Theriault who’s been in the fight game a life-time. And I, on the other hand, fight out of the best kickboxing gym in this country which has a conveyor belt for producing real talent. I predict, this is going to be a great fight for those fight fans lucky enough to have a ticket.” Promoter Billy Murray had to have the last say: “There are three WKN Pro-Am world titles also up for crabs on this KICKmas Cracker which is packed with a ‘Festive Feast of Fists n Feet’. Belfast’s very own Cathy ‘Karate Queen’ McAleer will top the bill when she fights for a world crown (opponent will be named soon). Bangor’s Johnny ‘Swift’ Smith will is the semi-main event, with another goal in sight - to become a professional world kickboxing champion, but first, he has his Professional debut to take care off. And that’s not all, Darren ‘The IceMan’ McMullan and Samantha ‘Terror from Tyrella’ Robb will defend their WKN Pro-Am world titles. The fiery Swiss fighter, Killian Emery will feature alongside two other ProKick rising teenage talents, Dundonald’s Jake McCreedy and Lisburn’s Cameron Dickson. And if that is not all we hope to bring you another top professional European fighter to fill up your KICKmas stocking.” KICKmas is coming and it’s going to be a cracker. Belfast fight-fans get your tickets while you still can tickets they are nearly gone for another ‘Made In ProKick event at the New Clayton Hotel in Belfast, which is all set for Sunday 6th December 2015.” Said Billy Murray. Info about KICKmas 2015 Tickets for KICKmas Watch Knock-out fight action featuring - Johnny ‘Swift’ Smith, Karate Queen Cathy McAleer, Darren ‘The Iceman’ McMullan and the Terror from Tyrella, world champion Samantha Robb.
