A host of kickboxing stars, including world champion Gary Hamilton, met Belfast Lord Mayor Tom Hartley yesterday (November 19) at a special reception in the Waterfront Hall. They put on a great show for us, joked Hamilton - the morning after the spectacular Christmas lights were switched on.

Hamilton will attempt to add the world WKN Lightweight crown to the Featherweight belt he has held since 2002. He will face much fancied Englishman Marty Cox Jnr for the vacant title in Belfast's Waterfront Hall on December 1.

Belfast Lord Mayor Tom Hartley added, “I see this as an important event in the sporting calendar of the city. This show will be great for Belfast and great for the development of Northern Irish sport. Events like these help showcasing the city and that is very important for us as we try to developed an image as a welcoming city and a city where people should come and visit..”

The KICKmas 2008 event is a festive feast of fists and fun which is supported by the Belfast City Council's support for sport programme and sponsored by Schwarzkopf international, will also see a host of other world and European titles up for grabs.

Tickets are still available for the biggest kickboxing show of the year. To reserve your seat go to http://www.ProKickShop.com
