A Belfast catwalk model and former Bond girl has swapped
ingenious gadgets and secret agent glamour for a pair of boxing
gloves to get behind an upcoming women’s only kickboxing event.
Deborah Hanna, who starred in spy classic ‘A View To A Kill’
alongside Roger Moore and Grace Jones, has joined the growing list
of women who have turned to kickboxing to get fit. She has signed
up with the ProKick Gym in east Belfast – and has immediately
shown her support for the Ladykillers show.
The
event, on October 30 at Belfast’s Holiday Inn, will see a
selection of the best female kickboxers from Ireland, Scotland,
France, Spain, Germany and Bulgaria take to the ring.
“It’s going to be an incredible show – I can’t
wait for it,” said the Belfast stunner – who recently
returned home after several years living in London. “Kickboxing
is a brilliant way to get in shape. I noticed the trend for women
to get involved in the sport when I lived away and I wanted to try
it myself. ProKick is just the best place - nowhere else would I
get the opportunity to train with world champion Billy Murray.
“On the set of Bond, there was certainly a lot of physical
action, though I stayed out of it myself. But if I keep up this
level of training maybe I could compete with Uma Thurman for a part
in the next Kill Bill!"
Tickets for The Ladykillers show – which will include 10 high-octane
bouts - are on-sale from the ProKick 24 hour hotline 02890 651074
now.
