TALL
ORDER FOR HAMILTON AT BASH & MASH
It’s going to be a tall order for world
champion Gary Hamilton when he faces his first fight of 2004 (March
5).
The featherweight kickboxing king will square-up against lanky Belgian
Gregory Colassin at the Clandeboye Lodge in Bangor.
Colossal Colassin is a full six inches taller
than 5’7 Hamilton – but the height advantage does not
scare the Belfast-man.
“The bigger they come the harder
they fall,” he said when the pair met today ahead of the fight.
“I’ve heard some good things about Colassin. He has
taken a few good fighters, like Samir, the distance. But I have
never been in better shape. To hurt me he’ll have to catch
me and I’ll see his kicks and punches coming from miles away.”
“Gary is a great champion, but I
will show that I am a player in this division,” said Colassin.
“It’ll be tough for him to get beaten on his own doorstep.”
On Friday night, rising
Belfast stars Andrew Grimason and Lydia Braniff will appear on the
undercard.
