ProKick's woman of steel Gail Hagan
turned to jelly
She
might be a woman of steel when she’s coaching her kickboxing
students, but when she came up against her teenage idol, ProKick’s
Gail Hagan turned to jelly.
The hugely experienced kickboxer turned head coach – with
a cluster of fights under her belt and several hundred students
in her charge – was left speechless when she met Donny Osmond
backstage at his show in Liverpool last week.
The meeting was arranged as a birthday gift by loving husband Colin
– and Gail is still walking on air.
“It was amazing,” she said. “I had no idea he
had this planned. I was excited about going to the concert because
Donny has always been my idol – that would have been enough
of a birthday treat. Then Colin said we had to wait and see someone
and I had idea what was going on. I nearly passed out when we were
taken backstage and Donny was there. He was gorgeous and so lovely.
I’m still excited thinking about it.”
Osmond posed for a few pictures with his awestruck fan and then
invited her back to see him the following evening. Gail didn’t
have to asked twice.
“We met him again on the second night,” she said. “He
feels like an old friend now.”
Osmond has never had a return to the chart glory of 1970s when he
and his family racked up hit after hit with songs like ‘Puppy
Love’ and ‘Crazy Horses. But demand to see the former
heart-throb live remains strong. Some tickets for the show at Liverpool’s
Kings Dock were on-sale at £160 each.
Gail is now on biting her nails waiting to see if Osmond will take
up her offer of ringside seats at the next ProKick event in Belfast.
