Witches Of EastKick

A coven of female kickboxers, set to appear at a landmark women’s-only event in Belfast next Saturday, got together this week to work on the magic they will be bringing to the Hallowe’en show.

The quartet are amongst 20 of Europe’s top female fighters who will take part in the unique Ladykillers encounter in Belfast’s Holiday Inn on October 30 – and they are all promising to cast some spells on their opponents.

“It’s spooky how quickly tickets sold out for this show,” said Hotel representative Gary Mairs. “We knew there was big interest for kickboxing in Belfast, but this is almost supernatural! All of the women on the bill are promising it’s going to be a fright-night for their opponents. I’m a little scared… but I can’t wait.”

“This will be a knock-out night,” said promoter Billy Murray. “I told the girls to practise their flying kicks so they could give the audience something to savour – and I think they took me a bit too literally! This is the first time ever in Europe anyone has put on an all-ladies show – and judging by pre-event interest, it will not be the last.”
