Little Matthew McAlees

LITTLE Matthew McAlees and Uncle Billy LITTLE Matthew McAlees has found himself the best coach available to develop his kickboxing skills – and he didn’t have to look very far.
For within his family is his great uncle Billy Murray, the man behind the success of the sport throughout Ireland.
The seven-year-old Belfast boy joined his uncle’s world famous ProKick Gym two years ago and just last weekend passed his grading for an orange belt. Now he’s ready for his first fight – a demonstration bout in Carrickfergus later this month!
“Matthew is always asking he can get into the ring for a fight,” said Billy Murray.
“Children cannot fight competitively until the age of 15 but they are allowed to enter demonstration bouts in order to build confidence in the ring.
“It’s great to have a family member taking on the tradition of kickboxing in the Murray camp. Maybe someday I’ll find myself promoting Matthew’s world title shot!”
Tickets for the Kings of the Castle show at Carrickfergus Leisure Centre are available from the Prokick hotline, 02890 651 074, priced £5 for children, £7.50 for adults and £15 ringside. Family tickets (two adults, two children) cost £20. Tickets on-line here
